Classic Fudgy Chocolate Brownies

Jump to Recipe

Classic fudgy chocolate brownies, pure comfort dessert at its best. Filled with chunks of dark chocolate, these brownies are truly irresistible.

Classic Fudgy Chocolate Brownies

There is absolutely nothing that can beat a classic recipe and these brownies are no different. Super easy to make, with no special equipment needed, this is my all-time favourite recipe.

I love brownies. What I don't love is overly sweet brownies.

I want that rich fudgy chocolatey taste. This is exactly what you will find with my recipe for classic fudgy chocolate brownies. Chocolatey taste...absolute perfection.

Classic Fudgy Chocolate Brownies

Served warm with a scoop of ice cream, whipped cream or just on its own, these brownies are amazingly delicious.

NO SPECIAL EQUIPMENT NEEDED

The best thing about this recipe is how easy it is to make. No hand-held or electric beaters are necessary. Avoid using it at all.

Over beating will result in a cake-like texture. You don't want a cake texture, you want a fudgy dense moist texture. So you are just only going to mix the ingredients until just combined. No over mixing.

Making the classic fudgy chocolate brownies

Start by lining an 8 inch / 20cm square pan with parchment/baking paper. Let the paper hang over the sides. This will make it easier to remove the baked brownies from the pan.

Melt the butter and allow it to cool. Once the butter has cooled, add in the sugar, eggs and vanilla. Stir the mixture with a whisk, do not use an electric beater.

Sift in the flour, cocoa powder and salt and stir until the mixture is just combined.

Fold half of the chopped chocolate into the mixture and spread the batter into the lined pan. Add the remaining chopped chocolate over the batter

Classic Fudgy Chocolate Brownies

Bake in a preheated oven of 356°F /180°C for 15 to 18 minutes. If you insert a skewer into the brownies, it will still have batter clinging to it.

Oven temperatures vary so check your brownies at 15 minutes. It will continue to bake in the pan even after it has been removed from the oven so do not overbake them. Allow it to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, before removing and cutting into slices.

So next time you have a chocolate craving, skip the store-bought boxed brownies and give this recipe a try...it is the best.
