How it all started

I started The Gardening Foodie back in 2017 — not in my twenties or thirties, but later in life, at a time when most people think their paths are already set. But life has its own seasons, and this one turned out to be the most fulfilling of all.

When I began, it was simply a way to share what brought me joy, the smell of something baking in the oven, the sight of herbs growing on the windowsill, and the comfort of food made with care.

Over time, that small beginning blossomed into a space where I share approachable recipes, gardening ideas, and the quiet joy that comes from creating something with your own hands.

Every recipe, every photo, and every story reflects that same joy, a reminder that growth isn’t about starting over, but about continuing to do what you love, one bake at a time.

What you'll find here

Here, you’ll find easy, reliable recipes made with everyday ingredients, the kind you already have in your kitchen.
Each recipe is tested multiple times in my own oven and written with step-by-step instructions, measurements in cups and grams, and practical substitutions to ensure success.

I want my readers, whether just starting out or rediscovering the joy of home baking, to feel calm and confident, knowing the recipe will work exactly as written.

Alongside baking, you’ll also find small gardening projects, from growing herbs in pots to cultivating vegetables and flowers that bring fresh flavor and color to the table.

Many of my favorite recipes begin right here, among the strawberries, thyme, and lettuce leaves in my little backyard garden.

Gardening keeps me grounded. It teaches patience and care, the same qualities that turn simple ingredients into something beautiful.

Growing together

What began as a small collection of garden notes and homemade recipes has grown into a trusted space for readers who value clarity, simplicity, and reliable results.

Hearing from readers, whether it’s someone baking bread for the first time or a parent trying a cake with their child, is the most rewarding part of this journey. It reminds me that food and creativity connect us, no matter where we live.

I used vegetable stock for this recipe, but feel free to use any type you prefer. If you're using concentrated stock or bouillon, just follow the package instructions. Each stock adds its own flavor, so choose one that fits your taste.
