Oreo Truffles

My recipe for oreo truffles requires just 3 ingredients and is made in under 30 minutes. It does not require any baking and makes an impressive gift or party treat.
Course Cookies, Dessert, Snack
Cuisine American
Prep Time 10 minutes
Freeze Time 15 minutes
Total Time 25 minutes

Ingredients

  • 32 Oreo Cookies crushed SEE NOTE 1
  • 1 cup/250g Cream cheese SEE NOTE 2
  • 2 cups / 350g /12.03 oz melted chocolate

Instructions

  • Line a tray or baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Place the cookies in a ziplock bag and crush them with a rolling pin or use a food processor. Do not remove the cream from the cookies.
  • Empty out the crushed Oreos into a large bowl and stir in the cream cheese until well combined.
  • Add any additional flavouring you prefer, like grated mint chocolate, essence, crushed candy canes. Please keep in mind that this is just an optional step. The truffles can be simply combined with cream cheese and crushed Oreos or additional flavouring as you prefer.
  • Shape the mixture into balls and place on the baking sheet.
  • Place the baking sheet with the shaped truffles in the freezer for 10 minutes. SEE NOTE 3
  • While the truffles are in the freezer, you can melt the chocolate either in the microwave or on the stovetop.
  • Dip the chilled truffles in the melted chocolate and place on the parchment-lined baking sheet. SEE NOTE 4

Notes

  1. Do not remove the cream from the cookies.
  2. Use full-fat cream cheese. The full fat contributes to a richer and creamier texture and taste when combined with the crushed Oreos. If you are using cottage cheese, make sure that it is creamed and not the chunky type. Chunky cottage cheese has high water content and will not work for this recipe.
  3. Freeze the shaped truffles for about 10 to 15 minutes before coating in the melted chocolate. This allows it to firm up and prevent breaking.
  4. Sprinkle with additional toppings you prefer. Do this before the chocolate sets and hardens.
